Team In Training (TNT), The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) groundbreaking charity sports training program, has reached a remarkable milestone of raising $1 billion to support blood cancer research and patient services.
Here’s the map for the 2010 Walt Disney World Marathon on January 10.
I’m stoked that I’m clear to run!!
So my Orthopaedic confirmed today that I DO NOT need surgery. I have birsitis, but I am OK to run my marathon as scheduled on January 10.
I’ve taken the last 3 weeks off running. Tomorrow I get back into it… wish me luck!
I completed the Space Coast Half Marathon today. It went very well. I’d like to give a shout out to my friend Terri Vallery from Orlando TNT who helped keep me on a kick-butt pace.
Oh ya, thanks to the hot guy we chased from miles 4-9 also :)
My stats for the race are below.
MALE AGE GROUP: 25 - 29
Place Overall Bib Name Age Hometown Time Pace
28 382 2280 Brent Summers 28 DeLand, FL 1:57:20 8:58
So far, I’ve chosen my running clothes. And, changed my mind on the shirt already. I’ve also rounded up my gel packs, a powerbar, and a bottle of water for the morning.
Next on the list is clipping my toe nails, and packing my suitcase.
Wish me luck!
This morning I ran a 5k on the beach in New Smyrna. There were 400 entrants. My time was 26:07… 4th in my age group. Not to shabby :)
If I had been just 1 minute faster I would have taken 3rd and gotten a really cool “trophy”. The local high school made unique clay trays, each one was a hand-painted beach scene. Oh well. Them’s the breaks!
At least my knee held up. This is the first time I’ve run since last week’s 15k race. Next weekend I’m scheduled for the Space Coast Half Marathon.
Of course, all of this in preparation for the Disney World Marathon on January of 2010. I am running with Team In Training to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You can make a donation to my efforts here - http://pages.teamintraining.org/cfl/wdw10/bsummers.
